PVDF piezo research, Aernoudt Jacobs , 2016
The last years Aernoudt has been experimenting with PVDF piezo materials. The material is transparent and has the shape of a paper-thin foil. It can be used as a speaker if conductive material is applied on both sides of the foil. The conductive layers activate the foil by applying energy to it so that acoustic waves are produced and sounds are heard. He has been using different techniques to apply conductive layers. The research includes a number of prototypes that challenges perception and the way we engage with sound.
