About
Overtoon is a non-profit organization active within the broad field of sound art. Located along the Koolmijnenkaai in Brussels, with iMAL and Q-O2 as close neighbors, Overtoon holds a unique position within the contemporary arts landscape. It is a place where we invite sound artists for residencies, either by invitation or through an open call and focused on research or production.
We offer two studios that can be allocated according to the artist’s needs for periods of 2 to 3 weeks (research) or 1 to 2 months (production). Both studios can be equipped with the necessary (basic) technical infrastructure. At Overtoon, we are committed to finding ways to provide each resident with the best possible working conditions.
Through an extensive network, we offer artists opportunities to present their work at various venues, both in Belgium and internationally. In addition to administrative and financial support, residents can also rely on our coaches: artists, educators, and curators from the field who provide guidance tailored to their specific needs.
We organize at least one open call for residencies each year, covering both research and production. Each call clearly outlines the timeline and selection criteria. The next open call is scheduled for late May 2026. Be sure to check our website and subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed.
