Open call for research residencies
Overtoon launches its annual national open call for artists with a practice in sound art. For this open call, we are looking for five artists for a two-week research residency that will take place between January 2027 and June 2027. We are seeking proposals situated within the field of sound art.
What we offer:
- A studio equipped for a two-week period with a basic technical setup: mixer, monitors, speakers, recording equipment, and cables;
- A fixed artist fee of 750,- ;
- Guidance and support: internally by the team at Overtoon, and externally (one full day) by coaches depending on the artist’s needs: profiling, technical support, conceptual development, etc.;
What we ask from the artist:
- A short description (max. 1 A4 page) of your project, what a residency at Overtoon would look like for you, and why you would like to work with us;
- A link to your biography and/or artistic portfolio;
- Three possible preferred two-week periods between 1 January 2027 and June 2027;
- A commitment to be present in the studio as often as possible;
- Respect for the space and the equipment;
Deadline: 15 July 2026. Selected artists will be contacted by mid-August at the latest. We cannot guarantee that every proposal will receive personal feedback, but we will do our utmost.
The requested documents may be sent to office@overtoon.org.
The selection will be made by the Overtoon team, based on alignment with our artistic vision, as well as technical and practical feasibility. We will also strive for sufficient diversity in both projects and artists.
Proposals related to performance art will not be considered for this open call. In case of doubt, we recommend consulting the website and looking at the residencies that have previously taken place at Overtoon.
