About Overtoon:

Overtoon is a platform for sound art based in Brussels. Since 2013, Overtoon has provided space for research, experimentation, and creation in this hybrid domain, which spans installations, performative arts, experimental media arts, and visual arts with an auditory component.

Each year, Overtoon collaborates with a wide range of artists through residencies, co-productions, and public presentations, in partnership with national and international organizations. Knowledge sharing takes place through daily coaching and targeted communication.

Overtoon is committed to supporting emerging artists and fostering a broader familiarity with sound art among professionals and the general public.

About the Position:

We are looking for an inspiring and decisive coordinator to take onthe artistic leadership of Overtoon. You combine strategic insight with a strong affinity for sound art and can translate a long-term vision into a concrete action plan and updated policy framework. You are a connecting figure within a small team and cultivate sustainable relationships with artists, partners, and policymakers.

Your responsibilities:

  • You accompany residencies and individual artistic trajectories, possibly together with external coaches.
  • You initiate and maintain partnerships with artists, co-producers, presentation
  • venues, educational institutions, and funding bodies.
  • You develop, coordinate, and communicate public events such as exhibitions, performances, and symposia.
  • In tandem with the administrator, you oversee budgets, grant applications, and accurate reporting.
  • You serve as the main contact and representative of Overtoon to the outside world.
  • You translate the policy priorities for 2023–2027 into a realistic action plan with a focus on development, production, and presentation of sound art. This plan should be translated by the end of 2026 into a multi-year funding application for structural operating support (2028–2032) to the Flemish Community.

Your profile:

  • You are familiar with the field of sound arts in Belgium and internationally.
  • You have a clear vision for Overtoon as an artistic laboratory and can articulate that vision.
  • You have basic knowledge of and an interest in sound technology.
  • You are curious and motivated to support and guide sound artists.
  • You speak and write fluently in Dutch and English; basic knowledge of French is a plus.
